Cheapest Places to Fly From Manchester: What 4 Weeks of Deals Show

Knock, Agadir, the Canaries and Lapland kept turning up cheap from MAN. Here is what the deal data shows, what it cannot show, and how to act on it.

What is in this guide

The short answer

The cheapest places to fly from Manchester in Blame the Fare’s deal data were Knock, Agadir, Marrakesh, Ibiza and the Canary Islands, with returns from £26 to £37 logged between 19 September and 17 October 2026. Gothenburg, Riga and Rovaniemi led the city breaks at about £40. The list shifts weekly, so treat these as patterns to watch, not bookable prices.

What four weeks of Manchester deals show

If you search for the cheapest places to fly from Manchester, you usually get a list of today’s fares. That list is useful for about a day. This guide does something different: it looks at every Manchester deal Blame the Fare’s deal scanner logged over four weeks and asks which destinations keep turning up cheap, at what price, on which airline and how far ahead.

Between 19 September and 17 October 2026 the scanner logged deals from Manchester (MAN) to 51 destinations, adding up to 522 daily sightings. A sighting is one destination appearing in the deal feed on one day. Every price here is the total for one adult return in economy, in pounds, as found at the time. None of them is a price you can still book, and none is a guarantee of what you will see today.

One limit matters more than any other. These are deal observations: fares the scanner flagged as being below the typical price a provider showed for that route. They are not a full price history. They tell you what cheap fares have looked like and roughly how far ahead they appeared. They cannot prove the cheapest day or week to book, and where a destination has one or two sightings, it proves very little at all. For the live list, use the Manchester departures page, which shows current fares rather than patterns.

On the morning of 17 October 2026 the feed held 18 Manchester deals, from £28 to Knock up to £83 to Larnaca. The median was £51.50, and the median deal sat 68% below the typical price the provider showed for the same route. That is a snapshot from one pull, not an average week.

Cheapest city breaks from Manchester

For a short European break, the most consistent cheap Manchester routes in the window were Ryanair and easyJet nonstops of three to six nights. The table shows the destinations with the clearest signal. Small counts are marked so you can discount them.

Knock is the standout on price: 15 sightings, never above £28, for three-night trips in mid-November. It is also a reminder that the cheapest place to fly is not always a place you were planning to go. If west of Ireland walking or family visits suit you, it is excellent value. If you want a city break, it is not one.

The more interesting finds are the winter Nordic routes. Rovaniemi in Finnish Lapland appeared 14 times at £40 to £44 for early November trips, and Tromsø was logged 17 times, with a £63 return over Christmas (24 to 26 December) still in the feed on 17 October 2026. Accommodation in both places is the expensive part, so price that before getting excited about the flight.

Ljubljana and Sofia were the most persistent easyJet deals, seen on 29 and 26 days respectively. Persistence matters more than a single low price: a fare that sits in the feed for weeks gives you time to check hotels and leave before committing. A fare seen once may be gone by lunchtime.

A few big names are missing. Manchester had only one Kraków sighting and none for Barcelona, Málaga or Faro in this window. That does not mean fares there were expensive; it means nothing on them dropped far enough below the typical price to be flagged. Liverpool’s feed was heavier on exactly those places, which is covered further down.

Cheapest winter sun from Manchester

Winter sun is where Manchester looked strongest. The scanner logged Morocco, the Canaries and the eastern Mediterranean at prices that would be good for a weekend in Europe, for trips of four to fourteen nights.

Hurghada, Egypt4£140–£1648607–13 Dec
Sal, Cape Verde7£144–£16514601 Oct–8 Dec

Two things jump out. First, the Morocco and Canaries fares were cheaper than most European city breaks in the same window, at around £30 return. Those are base fares from low-cost carriers, so a cabin bag or hold bag can double the cost of a nine-night Agadir trip. Price the bag before you compare.

Second, the winter-dated deals appeared well ahead. Agadir, Gibraltar, Sharm El-Sheikh, Hurghada and Sal all had median lead times of 56 to 62 days, and the Paphos and Antalya deals were for January and March, more than 100 days out. That fits common sense about winter sun rather than proving a rule, but it does suggest that waiting until December to look for a December week is not where the cheap fares were.

Egypt and Cape Verde are a different price tier. At £140 to £165 return they were still logged as deals, but they are four- to six-hour flights and the scanner saw them for longer trips. The Cape Verde figures include one connecting option; every other Manchester destination in the data had nonstop deals. For a broader view of where is warm and when, see our guide to cheap warm places to fly in winter.

Greek islands: cheap, but at very short notice

The Greek islands produced lots of sightings, but almost all of them were the end of the summer season, departing late September or October and seen only days before departure.

  • Corfu: 26 sightings, £44 to £60, median £56, median lead time 22 days. easyJet and Ryanair.
  • Zakynthos: 24 sightings, £82 to £134, median £103, median lead time 7 days. easyJet and TUI Airways.
  • Cephalonia: 20 sightings, £97 to £128, median £117, median lead time 13 days. easyJet.
  • Chania, Crete: 16 sightings, £56 to £91, median £80, median lead time 4 days. Jet2 and Ryanair.
  • Skiathos: 13 sightings, £102 to £153, median £124, median lead time 2 days. Jet2.

These are classic late deals: a seat on a seasonal route the airline would rather sell cheaply than fly empty. They are only useful if you can go at a week’s notice and already have accommodation sorted. They do not tell you what a June week to Zakynthos will cost. Our piece on flexible-date and flexible-destination searching covers how to use this kind of short-notice fare without paying a fortune for the hotel.

Long-haul from Manchester: what our data does not show

Here is the honest part. In this four-week window, the scanner logged no long-haul deals from Manchester at all. The furthest destinations were Sal and the two Egyptian resorts. Liverpool and Birmingham each had a few US or Mexico fares logged, but Manchester had none that met the deal threshold.

That does not mean Manchester is poor for long-haul. Virgin Atlantic said in January 2026 that it flies from Manchester to Orlando, New York, Atlanta, Las Vegas and seasonally to Barbados, and that it was adding Orlando capacity after Aer Lingus decided to withdraw its long-haul flying from Manchester. Emirates also flies from Manchester, from Terminal 2. It just means four weeks of deal data is too short to say anything about long-haul prices from MAN, and we would rather say so than invent a figure.

If you are planning a long-haul trip from Manchester, the practical route is a date-specific search and a price alert on the exact trip, compared against the same trip from London. A cheaper fare from Heathrow is rarely cheaper once you add the train and a night either side, but it is worth checking. Our guide to cheaper departure airports explains how to add a second airport without fooling yourself.

Patterns: airlines, trip lengths and lead times

Airlines. easyJet and Ryanair dominate the cheap Manchester list. easyJet appeared on 23 of the 51 destinations and Ryanair (including Ryanair UK) on 23. Jet2 appeared on five and TUI Airways on four, almost all of them the late-season Greek and Croatian routes. If you only have time to check two airline websites, those two are the obvious pair.

Nonstop vs connecting. Every Manchester destination in the data had a nonstop deal, apart from Sal, where the range included one-stop options. On short-haul from Manchester, a connection rarely beats a nonstop on price, and it adds the risk of a missed connection.

Trip lengths. Most short-haul deals were for two to six nights. The longer trips were the winter-sun routes: nine nights to Agadir, eleven to Sharm El-Sheikh, fourteen to Paphos and Sal. If your dates are fixed at a long weekend, expect fewer cheap Canaries options than the table suggests.

Lead times. The spread was wide. Late-season Greek and Croatian deals were seen two to 22 days before departure. Winter city and sun deals were seen roughly 36 to 76 days out. Paphos, Antalya and Larnaca deals for January to March were seen 107 to 144 days ahead. Again, this shows when cheap fares appeared in the feed, not proof of the best booking date.

Domestic oddities. The scanner also logged Manchester to Southampton at £41 (29 sightings, all for one January date) and Derry at £30. Domestic flights from Manchester are rarely the headline, but they occasionally beat the train.

Manchester vs Liverpool, Leeds Bradford and Birmingham

Manchester is not always the cheapest airport in the North West. The fair way to compare is destination by destination, on the same dates. Blame the Fare’s deal data lets you do a rough version.

Liverpool John Lennon. Over the same window the scanner logged Liverpool deals to 49 destinations, with a median route median of £62 against Manchester’s £50. That headline flatters Manchester, because the destination mixes differ. On the 23 destinations both airports had in the data, Liverpool’s median was lower on seven and Manchester’s on sixteen, but often for different dates. Liverpool was cheaper for Sofia (median £41 vs £68), Kraków, Malta and Palma, and it logged deals to Barcelona, Málaga, Faro, Alicante and Warsaw that Manchester did not. Manchester was much cheaper for Lisbon, Madeira, Menorca and Rhodes in the window. Check current Liverpool departures alongside Manchester for any Spanish or Polish trip.

Leeds Bradford. Our deal scanner does not currently cover Leeds Bradford, so we have no LBA prices to compare. The airport is worth searching manually if you live in West or North Yorkshire, but note it has no rail station: the airport says you need a taxi or bus onward, with Transdev’s Flyer buses linking it to Leeds, Bradford and Harrogate.

Birmingham. Birmingham logged 49 destinations and a higher median route median (£76), though again the mix differs. On shared destinations the picture was mixed: Birmingham was cheaper for Sofia (median £40 vs £68), Palma and Tirana, while Manchester was cheaper for Madeira, Corfu, Menorca and Gran Canaria. From Greater Manchester, the cost of getting to Birmingham can wipe out a gap of a few pounds. Our guide to the cheapest places to fly from Birmingham has the route-level comparison; check current Birmingham departures if you are in the Midlands.

The general method is in our guide to finding the cheapest flights from your airport: add the ground transport, parking and time to each airport before calling one cheaper.

Terminals and getting to Manchester Airport

Manchester Airport says 32,088,626 passengers flew into or out of it in 2025, and it has changed shape. The airport said in November 2025 that all passengers would go through Terminal 2 unless flying with Ryanair, and that Terminal 1 would close fully early in 2026. It has since closed. Ryanair uses Terminal 3; every other airline, including easyJet and Emirates, uses Terminal 2. Check your booking, because the old Terminal 1 advice still circulates online.

Manchester Airport station sits between the terminals and handles trains, buses and Metrolink trams. The airport says trains to Manchester Piccadilly take around 20 minutes and run every 10 minutes, and that Terminal 3 is about a five-minute walk from the station and Terminal 2 about ten. Metrolink trams run every 12 minutes direct to Manchester Victoria, with connections across the network. Allow for engineering works, which the airport flags on its Metrolink page.

Liverpool John Lennon has no rail station. Arriva’s 500 bus runs every 30 minutes to Liverpool ONE and near Lime Street, taking around 30 minutes, and the 86A links the airport with Liverpool South Parkway station, up to every seven or eight minutes at busy times. If you live west of Manchester, work out the door-to-terminal time for both airports before deciding which is closer in practice.

How to act on a cheap Manchester fare

Knowing that Agadir or Rovaniemi has turned up cheap is only useful if you act on it properly. A short process:

  1. Decide what kind of trip you want. City break, winter sun or long-haul each behave differently in the data. Pick one before browsing.
  2. Check the live list. Look at Manchester departures and the deal feed for today’s fares, not last month’s.
  3. Price the bag. Add the cabin or hold bag you will actually take on the airline’s own site. On £30 fares it is often the biggest cost.
  4. Check the terminal and the trip there. Ryanair from Terminal 3, everyone else Terminal 2. Price your train, tram or parking.
  5. Compare Liverpool on the same dates. Especially for Spain, Poland or Malta.
  6. Book on the airline or a reputable agent. Blame the Fare does not sell tickets, and no deal stays at the price we logged.
  7. Set a ceiling for the trip you could not book yet. If the dates are fixed but the fare is not right, set an alert or Watch at a realistic price rather than refreshing searches.

If something goes wrong once you have booked, our guide to UK flight delay compensation explains what you can claim. And if your budget comes first and the destination second, start with where you can fly for £200.

What these numbers are, and are not

Every price in this guide comes from Blame the Fare’s deal scanner, logged between 19 September and 17 October 2026, or from the deal feed on 17 October 2026. They are deal observations below a provider’s typical price, for one adult return in economy, in pounds. They are not a complete fare history and are not bookable.

The free Manchester page shows a preview of current deals. The full daily feed and Watches are part of The Departures Club, which costs $9 a month or $79 a year (US dollars). A Watch saves one exact trip, such as Manchester to Tenerife on fixed dates with a maximum fare, and checks it every hour. AI trip search is coming soon, but it is not part of membership today. If you only need inspiration, the public preview and Google Flights may be enough; compare options in our guide to UK flight deal services.

Frequently asked questions

Quick answers to the most common questions about this topic.

Where is the cheapest place to fly from Manchester?

In Blame the Fare's deal data logged between 19 September and 17 October 2026, Knock in Ireland was the cheapest Manchester destination, at £26 to £28 return across 15 sightings. Agadir, Marrakesh, Ibiza, Lanzarote and Gran Canaria all had returns logged at around £30. These were snapshots for specific dates, before bags, and are not bookable now. Check the live Manchester list for today's fares.

What are the cheapest city breaks from Manchester?

The most consistent cheap city breaks in the deal data were Ryanair nonstops to Nantes, Eindhoven, Lisbon, Gothenburg and Riga, with median returns of £34 to £43, plus Rovaniemi at about £41. easyJet's Ljubljana and Sofia deals were seen most often, on 29 and 26 days, at medians of £58 and £68. All figures were logged between 19 September and 17 October 2026 and will have changed.

Where can I get cheap winter sun from Manchester?

Morocco and the Canary Islands looked strongest. Agadir was logged at £27 to £30 return for late November, Marrakesh at £30 and Gran Canaria at £30 to £37, all between 19 September and 17 October 2026. Gibraltar sat around £52 and Paphos at £50 for January. Egypt and Cape Verde were dearer, at £140 to £165. Add bag fees before comparing, because they change the order.

How far ahead did cheap Manchester fares appear?

It depended on the trip. Late-season Greek island deals were seen two to 22 days before departure. Winter city and sun deals were seen roughly 36 to 76 days ahead, and Paphos, Antalya and Larnaca deals for January to March were 107 to 144 days out. These are deal observations, not a full price history, so they show when cheap fares appeared rather than proving the best booking date.

Which airlines have the cheapest flights from Manchester?

In Blame the Fare's Manchester deal data, easyJet and Ryanair dominated. Each appeared on 23 of the 51 destinations logged between 19 September and 17 October 2026. Jet2 appeared on five and TUI Airways on four, mostly late-season Greek and Croatian routes. Low fares on these airlines usually exclude larger cabin bags and hold luggage, so compare the total with the bag you will take.

Is Liverpool cheaper than Manchester for flights?

Sometimes. Of 23 destinations both airports had in Blame the Fare's deal data from 19 September to 17 October 2026, Liverpool's median was lower on seven and Manchester's on sixteen, often for different dates. Liverpool was cheaper for Sofia, Kraków, Malta and Palma and logged Barcelona, Málaga, Faro and Warsaw deals Manchester did not. Compare the same dates and include getting to each airport.

Which terminal does Ryanair use at Manchester Airport?

Ryanair uses Terminal 3. Manchester Airport said in November 2025 that all passengers would go through Terminal 2 unless flying with Ryanair, and Terminal 1 has since closed. That means easyJet, Emirates and every other airline now use Terminal 2. Check your booking confirmation and the airport's website before you travel, because older guides online still mention Terminal 1.

How do I get to Manchester Airport by public transport?

Manchester Airport station links trains, buses and Metrolink trams. The airport says trains to Manchester Piccadilly take around 20 minutes and run every 10 minutes, and trams run every 12 minutes direct to Manchester Victoria. Terminal 3 is about a five-minute walk from the station and Terminal 2 about ten minutes. Check for engineering works before travelling, especially on early-morning departures.

Are there cheap long-haul flights from Manchester?

Blame the Fare's scanner logged no long-haul Manchester deals between 19 September and 17 October 2026, so we cannot give a typical price. Manchester does have long-haul flights: Virgin Atlantic serves Orlando, New York, Atlanta, Las Vegas and seasonally Barbados, and Emirates flies from Terminal 2. For a long-haul trip, search exact dates and set a price alert rather than relying on short-haul deal patterns.

Should I fly from Leeds Bradford instead of Manchester?

It depends where you live and the route. Blame the Fare's deal scanner does not currently cover Leeds Bradford, so we have no LBA prices to compare. The airport has no rail station; it says passengers need a bus or taxi for the last leg, with Transdev Flyer buses from Leeds, Bradford and Harrogate. Search both airports on identical dates and include ground transport costs.
